G N O M E S OF BERLIN
Lore Poetry Submission:
In Berlin town, both quaint and small,
Live dwarfs who cause mischief for one and all.
They hide in the alleys, behind the shops,
And giggle and wiggle and do sneaky hops.
They tie up the shoelaces left on the floor,
And sprinkle some glitter outside the store.
At night they sneak cookies from tables and trays,
Then paint all the stop signs with silly word plays.
They clamber on benches, they ride on the rails,
They swing from the lampposts and twirl ponytails.
They switch all the salt with sugar instead,
Then tiptoe off laughing to tumble in bed.
But don’t be afraid, they’re merry, not mean,
Just cheeky and jolly and rarely seen.
So if you hear giggles while strolling the street,
It’s Berlin’s small dwarfs with their quick, happy feet!
